Job Title:         Director of Operations

Reports To:     Executive Director

Location:        Tulsa, OK

Status:            Full-time, exempt


The Director of Operations oversees all internal, day-to-day functions and is responsible for providing leadership for the organization’s overall performance, effectiveness and operations. A member of the organization’s leadership team, this position strives to ensure that the organization achieves strategic outcomes and consistently operates in alignment with its mission, values and established processes. The DO is a thought partner on strategies related to achieving organizational excellence with the Executive Director and staff leadership. The DO reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises the Public Awareness Associate and vendor relationships.


Oklahoma has the 2nd highest teen birth rate in the U.S., and some areas of Tulsa have teen birth rates that are triple the national average.  At the Campaign, we believe that all young people deserve to be educated, empowered, and supported by their community and to have a future full of hope and opportunities to reach their full potential. The Campaign is seen as a convening and capacity building leader in Tulsa County and beyond. It is an exciting time at the Campaign as we recently have adopted a new strategic plan and are poised for growth and expansion of programming.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the senior management team in strategic and programmatic decision-making processes of the Tulsa Campaign
  • Oversees enterprise risk management process including determining the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverage
  • Assists the contracted CFO with preparation of cash flow forecasts
  • Oversees development of annual budgets
  • Ensures all required and best practice policies and procedures are in place
  • Oversees federal 501(c)(3) status to ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met on an on-going basis
  • Works with Board’s Audit Committee, contracted CFO, and the external auditors to ensure the organization’s annual charitable return (Form 990) is completed in a timely manner
  • Assists with grants management process including development and monitoring of grants calendar, compiling drafts for grants and related reports and ensuring deadlines are met in a timely fashion
  • Assists senior management with the preparation of budgets for grant applications and ensure compliance with all grant and contractual requirements including: a) federal regulations; b) state and private contracts; c) private and corporate donor requirements
  • Manages database system including ongoing development, training and maintenance of data
  • Ensures that Tulsa Campaign continues to recruit, hire and retain a talented group of professionals who are experts in their area of content; able to effectively plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate organizational strategies; and respected by their peers
  • Establishes a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
  • Implements a performance management process for all staff, including monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
  • Coaches and mentors staff as appropriate to improve performance
  • Monitors all legislation relevant to the organization (employment standards, occupation health and safety, human rights, etc.) and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organization is compliant
  • Note: Duties will not be limited to traditional operational functions as our office is an “all hands on deck” team environment


Requisite Qualifications

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical role in teen pregnancy prevention in Tulsa and the Green Country area and in building the infrastructure of a relatively new non-profit organization. Therefore, first and foremost, the Director of Operations must be committed to the mission of the organization and its core values and have the skills and maturity to be a part of a highly functioning, high-trust team.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years’ experience in financial and operational management
  • Demonstrated track record of senior management experience in a leadership capacity
  • Experience in successful working relationships with board, staff and vendors
  • Ability to thrive in a fluid, sometimes unstructured, entrepreneurial environment
  • Flexibility and the ability to work autonomously
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in organizational budgeting and management
  • Ability to exercise judgement in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in HR management
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent computer skills


Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field preferred
  • Leadership experience with a non-profit organization
  • Established relationships with local foundations, corporations and other donors
  • Experience in financial reporting for private and public grants
  • Experience with management of a non-profit data system
